Monaco St Project Information

Construction Work Area Ahead

Work began on the Monaco St Project on June 6, and is expected to last 120 days. The project is essential to improving and maintaining the District's water system and will enhance fire protection and water service reliability in your area. Components of the project consist of installing approximately 4,300 linear feet of 8-inch water line, replacing 60 water service lines and/or meter pits, installing new fire hydrants, and associated asphalt and concrete removal and replacement. You will receive additional correspondence in the near future from our Contractor selected for this work, Vortex Services.

The project is located along Monaco Street, between E. 74th Place and E. 80th Avenue. Construction directly adjacent to Monaco Elementary School in Monaco Street between E. 76th Avenue and E. 77th Avenue will be completed by July 29, 2022, just before the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.

All residences and businesses in the project area will have their water service lines replaced and transferred from the existing water main to the new water main. All service transfers and replacements are anticipated to be completed with a maximum service interruption of 4-hours. The Contractor is required to provide notification with a minimum of 48 hours prior to interruption of service. Some meter pits will be relocated from their current location into the yard area and will require access to the property. There will also be some occasional service interruptions in addition to the 4-hour water service transfer while this work is underway, and every effort will be made to notify residents well in advance.

During the 120-day construction period, there will be temporary partial road closures in the area and interruptions to property access during work hours (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday). Detours and "No Parking" signs will be posted as parking will not be allowed on the street in the area of construction activities. In addition, the Contractor will provide advanced notice of road closures and detours to the affected properties. Vehicles parked in no-parking zones may be subject to towing at the vehicle owner's expense. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated. The Contractor will keep access open for school buses and public transportation, mailboxes accessible for mail delivery by the U.S. Postal Service, and access open for trash pick-up services.

We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during these essential improvements. For any questions or concerns regarding this project, don't hesitate to contact the Distribution and Collections System Manager, Jeff Coufal, by phone at 720-206-0511 or by email at
