[ARCHIVED] Water Softening Project is Approaching Completion

Pellet Reactor Installation

South Adams County Water & Sanitation District is pleased to announce the Water Softening Project is approaching completion. The Water Softening Project began from a community engagement process to determine how the District should address the hard water throughout the water system in Commerce City.

The Water Softening Project was approved by the District Board of Directors to construct a centralized water softening system, utilizing a state of the art technology known as pellet softening. The pellet softening process will reduce the water hardness, while improving energy efficiencies and reduce scaling on appliances and fixtures.

Once the project is complete and softened water is being delivered to customers homes, the District will request customers with in home treatment systems to re-calibrate their units to an incoming hardness level of seven grains per gallon (7 gpg). The District will notify customers with a postcard and bill inserts when it is time to make the adjustments. The District expects fully softened water to be delivered by March 27.

In conjunction with the approaching completion date, SACWSD has published a video to its website that highlights the benefits of the project for the community and includes footage of the project under construction. El video también está disponible en español a continuación.
