A reduced pressure device is a device composed of two independently acting check valves together with a hydraulically operating, mechanically independent pressure differential relief valve located between the check valves.

This unit also includes tightly closing, resilient seated shut-off valves attached at each end of the device and properly located resilient seated test cocks.

A reduced pressure device is generally used as a containment device, however, it can be used as an isolation device. It is designed to protect against non-health hazards (pollutants) and health hazards (contaminant).
